You might have heard of Blogtober, where bloggers post every day of October. It’s a fun autumn writing challenge. You might also wonder if Blogtober hurts SEO? There is a lot of debate whether posting on your blog every day will lead to more website traffic.
If you’re also a lifestyle blogger looking to grow your audience, stick around to see if you should participate in #Blogtober23

What is Blogtober 2023?
Can anyone do Blogtober?
Yes, anyone can participate in Blogtober! I did it in 2021 and not only did it produce some of my most successful blog posts, it showed me that I can do something when I buckle down.
Even with a baby and other responsibilities, I somehow got up early every morning and cranked out a blog post every day.
How posting inconsistently is hurting your blog
Unfortunately, I have not been posting on this blog consistently in 2023, and it shows in three areas: my traffic, my motivation and my writing muscles.
My stats and earnings have plateaued the past 6 months. I’ll make Pinterest pins, edit old articles, basically do anything but write blog posts, which leads me into my next point.
When I stop writing, I lose the desire to write. Whether it’s a technical post, a personal anecdote, product recommendation- it doesn’t matter. I love to write and I love to hear from my readers. Subsequently, when I’m not posting consistently, I’m not feeding my inner writer.
And so, I lose my “writing muscles“. It takes me longer to warm up, format my posts and round out ideas in my head.
How often should I post on my blog?
According to Growthbar, “The reality is: how much you should post on your blog depends on a variety of factors including your blog age, your blog topic, how much content you have to share, how often you can write new content, and the goal of your content — are you writing for SEO (organic traffic), to build your brand, share on social media, or to onboard users?”

At the end of the day, consistency is more important that quantity. On top of that, quality is more important than quantity.
Does Blogtober hurt SEO?
Does Blogtober hurt SEO? The answer: it’s complicated.
I’m not an expert, and everyones experience varies. Ideally, posting every day for a month sandwiched by radio silence in September and November isn’t ideal.
All in all, I personally think Blogtober is worth it due to the amount of disciple, connections and writing practice it can provide.
How to Find Topics for Blogtober
The best way to find topics for Blogtober (or any time of the year) is through keyword research.
Keyword research is a facet of blogging that I avoided for YEARS. I just wanted to write about what I wanted to write about, which is great for a personal blog with absolutely no intentions of making a cent or attracting new readers.Once I started to focus on keyword research, I started delivering content that the internet wanted and more importantly, was able to find.
The easiest way to find keywords is through a keyword tool. Google’s Keyword Planner is a little clunky, but great for beginners. The next step is using a professional tool like Semrush. Semrush is an all-in-one tool for finding keywords, evaluating the competition, page audits, and more!
