I’ve always loved lakes. There’s something about the quiet water, the boats drifting by, the smell of pine trees, and the slower pace of life that just feels peaceful. If I could spend every summer near a lake, I absolutely would.
One of my favorite places in the world is Lake Champlain! It sits between New York and Vermont and has that perfect mix of mountains, water, and small town charm. We’ve also been spending time on lakes in western CT and have found so much peace there!
That’s exactly the feeling that inspired this idea for a lake house baby nursery. A lake-inspired nursery brings in soft colors, natural textures, and subtle nautical touches without feeling overly themed. The goal is to create a space that feels calm and cozy and full of nature’s wonders!
Here are some ideas for designing a beautiful lake house inspired nursery.

Lake Nursery Inspiration

Soft Lake-Inspired Colors
The color palette is one of the easiest ways to set the tone for a lake house nursery. Think calm, natural shades that reflect water, sky, and shoreline.
Some beautiful color ideas include:
- soft blue
- sage green
- sandy beige
- driftwood gray
- creamy white
- pale navy accents
These colors help create a peaceful environment that feels like a quiet morning by the water.
Natural Wood and Cozy Textures
Lake houses often feel warm and rustic, and you can bring that same feeling into a nursery with natural materials.
Look for furniture and decor made from:
- light or natural wood
- woven baskets
- linen fabrics
- cotton blankets
- rattan accents
These textures add warmth and keep the room feeling relaxed instead of overly styled.
Nature Inspired Decor
Because lakes are so connected to the outdoors, nature decor fits perfectly in this type of nursery.
Some ideas include:
- watercolor lake or mountain art
- wildlife prints
- pine tree or forest illustrations
- landscape photography
- botanical prints

These elements help the room feel connected to the natural world.
A Calm and Peaceful Nursery
A lake house baby nursery is all about creating a calm space that feels connected to nature. Soft colors, natural materials, and simple decor can transform a nursery into a peaceful retreat for both baby and parents.
For families who love the outdoors, lakes, and slow summer days by the water, this type of nursery captures that feeling perfectly.
And for me, it always brings me back to the quiet beauty of Lake Champlain, which will probably always be one of my favorite places.
