Wrapping gifts is one of my favorite parts of the holidays. It is the moment when everything slows down just enough to be thoughtful, intentional, and a little creative. Christmas is my favorite holiday, and every year I find myself lingering over the wrapping, wanting it to feel just as meaningful as what is inside.
Using photographs in gift wrapping is one of the simplest ways to make a present feel personal and ~elevated~.
This way of wrapping does not require perfection or expensive supplies. It invites you to look through old photos, choose moments that matter, and let them set the tone. In this post, I am sharing how to wrap gifts with photos, along with inspiration, printing ideas, and simple ways to turn everyday presents into keepsakes your family will want to save!

Creative ways to Use Photos in Gift Wrapping
When I am looking for new ideas, Pinterest is always the first place I go. I love seeing how other people use photos in ways I would never think of on my own!
Here are some of my favorite examples:
Black and White vs. Color
This is usually the first decision I make! Black and white and color photos give off completely different feelings, even when the image is the same.
Black and white always feels a little more sentimental to me. It tones everything down and makes the photo feel intentional, almost like it was chosen just for this moment. I love using black and white prints with simple brown paper and string because it feels calm and timeless. Even if the picture is low quality or silly, black and white dresses it up.
Color photos feel warmer and more familiar. Just note that it can look a little “busy” if you’re using color photos with colorful or patterned wrapping paper.
If you are stuck, I usually go with the feeling I want the gift to have. Black and white feels reflective and soft, while color feels present and happy. There is also no rule that says you have to choose just one.

Where to Get Photos Printed
My personal favorite is CVS Photo. I can add upload the photos directly from my phone to their online portal, and have them ready for pickup the same day.
