Packing My Diaper Bag in 2021

May 25, 2021

Well, folks, the time has come. The world is opening back up and it’s time to venture out into what feels like the unknown. If you’re like us, you haven’t left the house in a very, very long time.

This post contains affiliate links. For more information you can visit my affiliate disclaimer page here.

Now that I’m out and about in the world I’m finally getting some mileage out of my Citi Collective diaper bag (more on that later). Before I had my daughter, I read dozens of these “checklists” online.

I had the basics: diapers, change of clothes, extra pacifiers. It wasn’t until I started going out that I realized what I actually was missing (here’s a hint – you’re going to want to pack more than one diaper). It wasn’t until I had a headache that I put a travel sized Advil in my bag, or when I found myself wiping my baby’s nose with my sleeve did I put extra muslin cloths on my list.

I’m not a germ person – meaning I (previously) never thought about germs. I would credit my super strong (knock-on-wood) immune system on my lack of concern for pesky microorganisms. But now, in this post-pandemic world, I’ve started to do more to protect myself.

I carry Babyganics hand sanitizer in my diaper bag and always make sure I have a cloth mask with me. It might seem like the bare minimum but it helps me feel safer.

My husband gifted me the Citi Collective Citi Explorer for Christmas. I had my eye on it forever!

One of my goals for this year was to become as close to vegan as possible, so I love that the bag is vegan leather. I can fit everything on the list below in its 10+ pockets, including my iPad, bottles, and clothes for myself (you never know when you’re going to be spit up on).

I didn’t know how much I would appreciate a backpack style diaper bag until I had one. The Citi Explorer has little details I need now as a mom; cooler pockets, a hook for my keys so they’re not swimming around at the bottom of the bag, adjustable straps.

You can get one here. They have free shipping for US customers!

Below is my diaper bag packing list for 2021! I’ve divided it into sections for baby, for mama, and some extras!

For baby:

  • Baby Tylenol
  • Diaper Bags
  • Wet Bag
  • Diapers (we do Pampers) – 1+ 1 for every hour out
  • Wipes
  • Diaper Cream (mini Aquaphor)
  • Pacifier
  • Toys (Baby M is loving this Sassy Sensory wheel)
  • Extra clothes
  • Extra socks/hat
  • Changing Pad (I use the one that comes with my CitiCollective Citi Explorer)
  • Muslin Cloths (I love Oliver + Rain or Aden + Anais)

For mama:

  • Hand Sanitizer (Babyganics)
  • Tissues
  • Advil
  • Hair Ties
  • Snack Bars
  • Water Bottle (I just use my Yeti)

And here are some miscellaneous items that I’ve added since the weather changed!

  • Sunscreen (Badger is best for us)
  • Baby sunglasses (the cutest accessory)
  • Cloth masks
  • Extra cash and quarters for parking

What do you have in your diaper bag? Anything extra after Covid-19? Is there anything you’d add to this list?
