I’m in love with this green smoothie – it’s a great way to start the morning on a healthy note!
Disclaimer: this could all be a placebo effect. And I don’t care. This delicious, hearty, filling green smoothie actually gets me out of bed. I know, dramatic, right? Maybe it’s the idea of being healthier, or the taste, or the process that is so inviting. All I know is I feel better.
Another disclaimer: I’m not a doctor. I’m DEFINITELY not a nutritionist. This isn’t a suggested meal substitution. I know each of us have different nutritional needs, taste buds and morning schedules. I can say that this smoothie contains tons of nutrients and is a refreshing start to the morning. I felt fuller throughout the day and had the confidence of a thousand goddesses.
Green smoothies have been getting a lot of flack lately (I’lll let you look that up on your own). I drink this in addition to my breakfast and I’ve gotten really good at listening to my body.
I started drinking this out of desperation. I’ve developed terrible insomnia and I’ve been pushed to exercise, eat healthier, and cut down on sugar and caffeine (things I should’ve already been doing, I know). This doesn’t cure it, but the fruit helps cut out some of my midday cravings for sugary snacks.
And another disclaimer: this thing tastes delicious. I was worried that I’d be able to taste the spinach, but the fruit masks it completely. I make sure I blend the spinach, almond milk, honey and water first so that it becomes more of a juice than a pulp. This can be served at room temperature or chilled. Enjoy!
